After-sales operations in PrestaShop

Right of withdrawal and returns in PrestaShop

When a customer wants to withdraw from a purchase, your PrestaShop store needs a clear way to receive the request and manage what happens next.

For store owners, ecommerce managers and agencies organizing after-sales operations: from the order and affected products to tracking each case.

The everyday problem

A return request should not get lost in emails

An email, a customer service message and an order with several items. When information is scattered, it becomes difficult to know what the customer wants to return and what is still pending.

Your store needs to identify the order, specify products and quantities, confirm the communication and keep an organized case. Everyone on the team can then review the same information.

How it works

From the order to closing the case, step by step

  1. 01

    Identify the order

The buyer finds the purchase concerned by the request, including when they checked out as a guest.

  2. 02

    Define the scope

They select eligible products and quantities where applicable. A request may cover the whole order or only part of it.

  3. 03

    Submit and confirm

The customer reviews their declaration, confirms the request and receives an acknowledgment. The store has a clear starting point.

  4. 04

    Review the case

The team receives the request and checks the order, items and case history to understand what needs attention.

  5. 05

    Manage the return

The store coordinates the return of the merchandise, records its arrival and inspects the products as appropriate.

  6. 06

    Resolve the refund

The merchant processes any applicable refund through its payment provider or bank, then records the result in the case.

Request ≠ merchandise return ≠ monetary refund

Communicating withdrawal does not mean the merchandise has arrived or the money has been refunded. Each stage needs its own management.

Operational benefits

Greater clarity about what happens next

An organized case

The order, products, quantities and interventions stay connected, so the team can review the context without reconstructing an email chain.

Clearer pending tasks

The case status helps your team distinguish a new request, a return awaiting arrival and a refund awaiting action.

Continuity across the team

The history provides traceability so whoever takes over understands what has already happened and can take the next step.

Frequently asked questions

Before organizing withdrawal in your store

Check time limits and exceptions on Your Europe
01Is withdrawing from a purchase the same as managing a return?

Withdrawal means communicating the decision to cancel a contract where that right applies. Returning merchandise is a separate operational step; a return can also arise for other reasons, such as a product issue.

02How long does the consumer have?

The European framework generally provides 14 days for certain distance contracts. When the period starts, exceptions and other conditions depend on the contract and applicable rules. Review your store’s circumstances with legal advice.

03Is offering a PDF form enough?

A PDF alone does not organize submission, confirmation or follow-up. If the online withdrawal function applies to your contract, review its specific requirements: offering a PDF does not replace that function.

04Can someone who checked out as a guest use it?

Yes. EU Withdrawal Manager supports guest and registered customers. A guest can identify their order to start the corresponding workflow.

05Can a request cover part of an order?

Yes. The module supports full and partial requests for selected eligible products and quantities. This capability does not imply a universal right to partially withdraw from any contract.

06Does the module automatically return the money?

No. The merchant processes the monetary refund through its payment provider or bank. EU Withdrawal Manager then allows the reference and result to be recorded for case tracking.

07Is it compatible with my PrestaShop version?

The compatibility section lists the exact versions declared in the product page reviewed. Check your version, PHP requirements and store environment against the current Addons product page before purchasing.

08Does installing it guarantee legal compliance?

No. The software helps manage the process, but does not decide whether the right applies to a contract or replace a legal review of your products, terms, consumers and markets.
